You know what’s weird?

When I was fourteen and struggling with my sexuality, my eighth grade teacher encouraged me to be more open and to love myself more fully. She never explicitly asked me if I was gay, but she pulled me aside and had a serious talk. This was at Catholic school, mind you.

It took two and a half more years until I came out. It’s been six years since that talk; I like to think that I took her advice.

Don’t know why that popped into my mind at 2 am but it did.

Sometimes the hardest thing is just realizing that you should ask for help. And once you do, it’s so incredible to know there are always people willing to provide it.
